CJ Shiloh, MT-BC
C.J. Shiloh is a Board Certified Music Therapist in the Baltimore/Annapolis region of Maryland and works as owner and lead therapist of Annapolis Center Music Therapy Services. CJ is a classically trained pianist and has almost 20 years experience as a private piano teacher. She earned a liberal arts music degree, with concentrations in both performance and education, from Colorado State University – Pueblo in 2003. For the next 10 years she gained experience in teaching adapted music lessons for children with special needs, working in a private school as elementary general music teacher and middle school choir director, and working in Maryland public schools as a home/hospital teacher for students with special needs. After completing the Professional Studies Program for Music Therapy Certification from Shenandoah University in 2013 and receiving her MT-BC, she immediately launched into a thriving music therapy private practice.
CJ has been an active participant in disability rights issues and an advocate for the Neurodiversity Movement since 2009. She is the curator of Sensory Friendly Concerts™ and began the nonprofit, The Musical Autist in 2011 to help bring recognition to these events which promote “equal rights to the fine arts” and provide opportunities for self-advocacy through a structured practice of Community Music Therapy. CJ and The Musical Autist’s co-director, Sunny Cefaratti, have presented on the topic of Neurodiversity in both regional and national music therapy conferences as well as national autism conferences such as Autism Society of America and ICDL. CJ serves as co-Chair for the Online Conference for Music Therapy and has served on this committee since 2011.
